Francesca Liberatore entrusts her FW 2020-21 collection to cinematographic storytelling, playing her ‘J-Kolombina-R’ in a game with the public. Inspired by the film from Todd Phillips, the metamorphosis invades the audience, generating a complicity between models and viewers, depiction and reality. In the great salon of Odeon Cinema Milano, the protagonist enters in scene undergoing three phases of mutation through an evolution of dressing.
The show opens with daily essentials and discretion, with comfort and warmth found in a palette of woolly greys and beiges, mixed with browns and greens aligned in regimental stripes. There is a composed reassuring sense in the protagonist, yet still aware of her unrest. The projected images alternate with a cadenced step in a narration that, like cinema is reality.
Wools, lurex and coated velvets lead into a transition that preludes the s incarnation, as luminescence and contrasts elude to a change taking place. A 70’s reminiscence was seen in large volumes, high-waisted or flared mannish trousers sometimes combined with kilts and an absolute must, the suit. Blocks of color from midnight blue to peacock close in a total velvet final act, as the real character is born illuminated by lilac, pink and ocher, ultimately revealing a dazzling red. This is how the search for a new point of view becomes the need for the designer to experiment with movement, performance of the garment in actuality, and its dissociations.

Passion and determination drive the key of her success, upholding the name of Made in Italy overseas. In 2014 Francesca Liberatore wins the DHL Exported Award, a direct link to an important partnership with IMG Fashion, that brings her to permanently show her collections during the New York Fashion Week. From September 2014 through her celebrated NYFW tenure, she officially showed on the most exclusive NY catwalk venues, including Lincoln Center Salon, The Moynihan Station at the Dock Skylight and Gallery 1 at Clarkson Square.

In February 2018, after a significant seven-season run at NYFW, and with renewed creative focus, she returned to Milan Fashion Week, and that same year celebrated a decade of her label with her first monograph published by Silvana Editoriale and distributed all over the world. In september Francesca participated to Milano Fashion week for the first time after 10 years off-schedule supported by the successful collaboration with DHL, Arena and FIN where Liberatore signed a capsule for the sport label and the training swimsuits of the Italian National Swim Team for Tokyo 2020.
