Diotima

Diotima is a ready-to-wear label founded in 2021 by Rachel Scott, who left her corporate career — including seven years at Rachel Comey, where she rose to VP of Design — to establish the brand. Of Jamaican origin, Scott graduated from Istituto Marangoni Milano in 2007 and worked at CoSTUME NATIONAL, J. Mendel, and Elizabeth and James before joining Rachel Comey. Diotima is crafted between Jamaica and New York City, offering a seasonally interchangeable wardrobe rooted in fine craftsmanship, unexpected details, and fine materials. The brand explores and reimagines the cultural and sartorial intersections of Caribbean and European traditions.

Scott’s accolades are historic: in 2023, the CFDA declared her the Emerging Designer of the Year and recognized her as a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund runner-up, all within months of being named a finalist for the LVMH Prize. In 2024, she won the CFDA Award for Womenswear Designer of the Year – the first time the prize had gone to a Black woman – and also won the CFDA x Frazier Family Foundation Empowered Vision Award. She subsequently debuted Diotima on the NYFW runway for Fall 2025 and was appointed creative director of Proenza Schouler, becoming the first Black woman to hold such a role at an established American fashion house.
