Osaka’s Design is Japanese-inspired, Infusing Modern Architecture, Feng Shui and Signature Peruvian Accents

Osaka Miami

Miami, FL (December 2019) – On Thursday, December 12, over 300 guests celebrated the Internationally acclaimed Nikkei restaurant Osaka’s North American debut as its Miami location opened its doors in Brickell.

The fete commenced with an authentic Peruvian Daiko drumming blessing ceremony by Fushu Daiko which conveys gratitude and positive energy for upcoming good luck. The Taiko drummers were combined with a Peruvian Cajonero which represents Osaka’s Nikkei origin merging their culture, cuisine, and day-to-day traditions.

The guests then experienced a traditional Asian ceremonial Sake Keg (Taru Zake) tapping and breaking of the lid to a cedar barrel filled with sake by Owners Diego de la Puente and Diego Herrera which represents prosperity.

DJ/Producer Hernan Nunzi and DJ Antonio Briceno kept the party going until after midnight with a lively house set in the bar area. Among the VIP guests included American-Peruvian actor and Osaka Miami partner Christian Meier, TV host/model Candela Ferro, and Mexican actor Khotan Fernandez.

Helmed by Chefs Rogger Quispe and Juan Urrutia, Osaka is a multi-sensory and award-winning experience that merges millenary Japanese techniques with the best Peruvian flavors and ingredients.

The Osaka brand currently successfully operates in South America with nine restaurants, making Miami the 10th location to be followed by London in 2020.

Osaka was conceptualized in 2001 by Diego Herrera and Diego de la Puente, two friends whose surfing world travels (specifically in Europe and Asia) resulted in the creation of a restaurant influenced by both their Peruvian roots and their love and passion for the ocean and the Asian culture.

Sixteen years later, what started as a pop-up became the leading Nikkei reference in the region, and the only Peruvian restaurant to top the rankings in most countries in South America.

Osaka’s design is Japanese-inspired, infusing modern architecture, Feng Shui, and signature Peruvian accents of past and present materials and textures. Much like its sister restaurants, the Miami location features a big ceviche and Nikkei bar at the heart of the restaurant, which is the main difference from traditional sushi restaurants.

The dimly lit dining room sets an elegant and serene vibe of Japanese and Peruvian culture with symbolic running waterfall elements and wooden floors.

Setting visitors up for a new experience, the Miami venue introduced new dishes while retaining signature staple highlights of the Nikkei menu, including Nigiri sushi using Peruvian ingredients full of umami flavors; a vast array of ceviche, including their famous Wasabi Ceviche, blending tasty “Leche de Tigre” and fresh seafood; Nikkei Omakase platters; Izakaya sharing style plates; and other signature dishes that include fresh vegetables, seafood and fish, Kobe, duck and chicken. Osaka’s mixology program is structured on the same path making their liquor bar a world-class scenario with homemade drinks and a trendy, vibrant atmosphere.

Osaka is located at 1300 Brickell Bay Drive, Miami, FL 33131. For reservations: 786 627-4800.
