World of Women Gala Recap Galactic Glamour takes over Miami Beach at Inaugural WoW Gala & WoW Awards

 

The first-ever World of Women Gala took place during this year’s Miami Art Week, on December 1 at the Kimpton Surfcomber in Miami Beach. The theme of the gala was Galactic Glamour, inspired by the eight realms of the World of Women Galaxy collection. The WoW Gala brought together 1,100 community members from across the world—collectors, creators, celebrities, and partners—for a spectacular celebration of art, representation, and equal opportunities for all.

In addition to the vibrant members of the WoW Community, the Gala welcomed many notable attendees:

  • Ros Gold-Onwude, web3 creator and sports broadcaster was the master of ceremonies and hosted the WoW Gala alongside all-star presenters who revealed the winners of the first-ever WoW Awards.
  • Other all-star presenters included: Guy Oseary (manager of World of Women), Amanda Cassatt (founder and CEO of Serotonin), Mo El-Sayed (Head of Community and Education at Ledger), Inna Modja (Head of Philanthropy at WoW), Maghan McDowell (Senior Innovation editor at Vogue Business), Shira Lazar (founder and CEO of the Emmy-Nominated digital media brand What’s Trending), and Dorothy deVenecia (VP of Marketing at Johnnie Walker, Diageo North America).
  • Shannon Snow, COO of World of Women, welcomed WoW Gala attendees and a keynote speech was given by World of Women Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Yam Karkai.
  • Miami-based visual artist Amaranta Martinez, also known as SUPERAMA, provided a custom painting of a Johnnie Walker Statue in the theme of her WoW style.
  • DJ duo Sofi Tukker was the surprise guest performer and played an incredible set for WoW Gala attendees, followed by electric musical performances that featured on-stage fire dancers.

During the Gala, special guests presented awards for eight different categories, all nominated and selected by the World of Women community. The categories and their respective winners include:

Gala Announcements

  • WoW revealed their newest collaboration with Jazwares, a high-end collectible named Isnah, who was the face of the WoW Gala.
  • WoW announced ARTFEST, a rebrand and reimagining of their Art Drops initiative. ARTFEST will become a new gathering place for the community, and change how we meet online and collect art on the blockchain.
  • Ledger, in partnership with WoW, announced the launch of the Ledger Quest, a gamified educational platform enabling the community to learn about crypto security, play, and earn proof of knowledge NFTs which provide exclusive access to a free customized WoW Ledger Nano X.
  • World of Women Monopoly will be dropping Q1 of 2023, in partnership with Hasbro and WS Game Company. You can expect to see the WoW worlds come to life through the board with incredible artwork, updated lore and cameos from your favorite NFTs.
  • Through the WoW Foundation and in partnership with The Sandbox, World of Women launched Let’s Mint on November 30, educating 300 girls on Web3. Over the next year, WoW plans to scale their educational efforts to touch the lives of 50,000 girls and help them future-proof for the next wave of technology.
  • This spring, World of Women and House of Harlow will reveal their highly anticipated limited-edition drop that will include T-Shirts, Hoodies, Tote Bags and Jewelry.

  • The WoW Gala was produced by UNREVEALED in collaboration with UZO Media Productions, Bellwether Culture, Moss Martin Media & Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel.
  • Johnnie Walker marked the evening with an elevated Johnnie Walker Blue Label experience, including signature cocktails inspired by WoW lore.
  • The Fabricant made available 3 AR filters from its latest digital couture accessories collection, allowing WoW holders to amplify the Gala’s Galactic Glamour looks.
  • Jadu gave Gala guests access to the private release of their mobile augmented reality app which allows people to use their Web3 identity as playable avatars in AR. Holders could participate in an augmented reality step and repeat on the Purple Carpet, where they were accompanied by a voxelized WoW/G avatar capturing pictures or video.
  • Theta powered the token-gated authentication and Livestream of interviews hosted by Cool Blue on the purple carpet, as well as the WoW Awards ceremony.
  • OnCyber partnered with Theta as an additional distribution point for the live stream for those unable to attend to watch the Gala through the WoW Museum residence.
  • Marciano Estate Winery provided their 2019 Terra Gratia Estate Red for tastings.
