WE TVs Posh Monster Hit “Bridezillas” Stomps The Runway With A Fashion Show Celebrating A New Season And New Designers
On Wednesday, March 13, students from New York City fashion schools celebrated the highly anticipated season 12 premiere of WE tv’s hit series “Bridezillas” with a first-ever fashion show at the Angel Orensanz Foundation in New York City. Bridezilla is an original docu-series following normal women turned bride-zilla in preparation for their weddings. Schools included The Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons The New School of Design. The competition showcased ten local student designers competing with their interpretation of a fun and fierce Bridezilla-inspired wedding gown and the designs did not disappoint.
Beck Jones from Parsons The New School of Design won first place for his dress titled “Struck By Love One Too Many Times.” The one of a kind dress displayed a dark and comical interpretation of what happens when “cupid” hits someone with his arrow “one too many times”, Red blood stained the sides, while the train was covered in rose petals. The model carried a human heart like one carries a bouquet. The model’s neck-piece was designed to look like her head had been put through a painting with a canvas around the neck.
The show was host to a series of fun designs, with the gracefulness of “Black Swan” and nostalgia of characters like “Morticia Adams” or “Nightmare Before Christmas”.
- First place, Beck Jones took home $5,000 for his dress titled “Struck By Love One Too Many Times.
- Second place, receiving $2,000, was Lashaun Coster from Parsons The New School of Design for her dress titled “The Nymphalidae Society.”
- Third place, receiving $750, was Rose Zhang from Parsons The New School of Design for her dress titled “Bespoke Bridezilla.”
