Human trafficking is the world’s fastest growing criminal industry and it affects every nation across the globe, which in turn is undermining health, safety, security, and the basic needs of humanity. There are currently more slaves in the world than at any other point in human history, with an estimated of 27 million human trafficking victims, across the globe, and of which more than 20% of trafficking victims are children. In Europe, half of all human trafficking victims originate from the Balkans.
UNITAS began combatting trafficking in September 2015 after founders, LuboKrstajic and Mo Stojnovic, learned of the plight of trafficking victims around the world. Believing in unity as the name suggest, UNITAS quickly forged partnerships with governments, NGO’s, executives, and experts in the field to develop collaborative solutions in the fight against human trafficking. UNITAS has offices in Belgrade, Serbia, New York and Miami, USA.Comprised of business executives, humanitarians, students, concerned citizens, models and entertainers, UNITAS unites everyday people in one purpose. Together they are investing their lives, devoting their skills and resources in order to bring freedom and restoration to those that desperately need it.
Most recently, UNITAS is expanding its efforts by funding a new effort to reach 900-1000 children per year identified as “critical missing” and “recovered”in Washington D.C., working with the Serbian government to educate every teenager in Serbian schools and beyond, funding national human trafficking hotlines in Bulgaria and Greece and producing the film, “Observers” which is helping tens of thousands of children in Eastern Europe learn how to avoid sex trafficking.
