Across the pond, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London partnered with Harrods for this year’s V&A Summer Party at the John Madejski Garden in South Ken where countless A-listers gathered to welcome a sweltering new season with swigs of Harrods premier cru champagne and nibbles of Ladurée macarons. Hosted by V&A chairman Nicholas Coleridge CBE, museum director Dr. Tristram Hunt, and Michael Ward, managing director of Harrods, the event welcomed such dignitaries as: Her Royal Highnesses Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice of York, designers Patrick Cox, Henry Holland, and Alice Temperley; icons Bianca Jagger, Twiggy, Nick Rhodes, Gary Kemp, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Elizabeth Hurley; models Neelam Gill, Ellie Bamber, Edie Campbell, and Erin O’Connor; architect Sophie Hicks, and photographer Ellen Von Unwerth. Actor Jack O’Conell, who is appearing onstage this season in the Young Vic production of Tennessee William’s “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”, looked all kinds of debonair in a Gucci suit. Mr. Coleridge took a moment to thank Harrods for its sponsorship and announce the establishment of the V&A North Kensington Community Fund to assist with local projects for children and families in the neighborhood affected by the Grenfell Tower fire. For the rest of that warm evening, British singer-songwriter NAO kept up the heat with a scorching musical performance.
