The world has changed, and it is going to change even further towards a “gender-free” society. Sulvam is a pure men’s brand, however the collection brings out a new beauty, the beauty of when a woman wears men’s clothing. This is what I would like to express in my collections.

I deny current trends. I think that fashion is about wearing clothes freely and with Individuality – beyond the way you are supposed to wear pants or to layer certain garments. One should be as free as possible. Yet I respect the rules of “menswear”. I challenge what I feel should be challenged, but I respect what I feel must be respected.

Sulvam is crafted to reflect the times much like an improve jam session in music. The designer himself designs and creates each and every item in the collection, starting from pattern making; it’s a design process where fabrics, patterns and cuts are given the highest priority. Every heartbeat, emotion and thought of the designer is what forms the art of the brand Sulvam.

Sulvam, founded by Teppei Fujita in 2014. A graduate of the Bunka Fashion College, backed by a lengthy collaboration with the Yohji Yamamoto Maison, Teppei rapidly earned the acclaim of international members of the trade, first winning the “Tokyo Fashion Award” in 2014 and VOGUE price “Who is on Next? Dubai” in 2015, and later shortlisted for the LVMH Fashion Prize 2017.

With emphasis on alluring masculinity while harnessing the pattern making skills acquired under Yohji Yamamoto, Teppei’s tailoring reinterpretation with a strongly contemporary key and his focus on extremely high quality fabrics and innovative silhouettes led to invitation as guest designer at Pitti Uomo in January 2017, with a runway show held at the Stazione Leopolda during PITTI IMMAGINE UOMO 91.

In June 2017 sulvam, who debuted in Milan at On Stage 2015 after being shortlisted by Milano Unica and Woolmark, was invited back by Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana to present his Spring Summer 2018 collection with a runway show in Milan.

Thanks to the ongoing support by Camera della Moda, who have renewed their invitation, sulvam will be showing again his no-gender tailored creations in Milan in January 2018, presenting his Autumn Winter 2018 collection. The new collection will represent a return to the designer’s roots. Inspired by the designer’s youth of the late 90’s – early 2000’s, the style will blend with sulvam’s signature patterns in a collection distinguished by a dark colour palette.
