NEW YORK CITY BALLET 2023 SPRING GALA CELEBRATED INNOVATIONS IN BALLET WITH WORLD PREMIERES BY:

The New York City Ballet’s Spring Gala: INVENTION at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center celebrated the company’s ongoing innovation and creativity and raised a record-setting $3.45 million.
The evening featured CHRISTOPHER WHEELDON’S world premiere of From You Within Me set to music by composer ARNOLD SCHOENBERG with scenery and costumes by KYLIE MANNING, as well as a world premiere of ALYSA PIRES’S Standard Deviation in her ballet debut with a commissioned score by JACK FRERER and costumes by DANA OSBORNE.
The evening’s show concluded with a performance of JUSTIN PECK’S iconic The Times Are Racing set to music by DAN DEACON with costumes by HUMBERTO LEON.
Event Chair Allyson Tang addressed guests during the dinner program and praised the evening’s performances, which transported audiences into a world where creativity has no limits.
She thanked all of the ballet’s supporters, who help New York City Ballet provide joy and inspire others. “At NYCB, we have 100 diamonds, they are our dancers that shine and sparkle on and off stage,” she said.

The Spring Gala: INVENTION was generously sponsored by Porsche and Chopard, with additional support from The Macallan and Giorgio Armani Corporation. The Gala featured champagne by Ruinart, wines by Wagner Vineyards, catering courtesy of CxRA, décor courtesy of Ron Wendt Design, and music by DJ Bill Coleman for Peace Biscuit.
