Milan Fashion Week is just a few weeks away and it is time to sum up the highlights of this event away from the spotlight of the most known brands, where alternative fashion happens, where new waves and new thoughts contaminate fashion in a positive way. It is absolutely the case of Sophia Nubes and its debut at Milan Fashion Week.
Style joins social commitment through Sophia Nubes and WEAREAHEAD: the project that takes a stand by supporting Le Pavillon Blanc and its testimonial, the model Oxana Likpa, and the female empowerment of Dress for Success.
Fashion must speak up and take a stand to be truly inclusive and send a strong message against violence and prejudice, starting with what you wear.
The creativity of Elena Pioli, Founder & Creative Director of Sophia Nubes, starts from this premise, and finds its maximum expression in the WEAREAHEAD manifesto: emblem of a strong and authentic fashion. The FW 2021-22 collection debuted at Milan Fashion Week with a live stream on February 26th, online on SophiaNubes.com and @Sophia_Nubes.
A concrete vision because the brand has chosen to actively collaborate with Le Pavillon Blanc, the association founded by Stéphane Ebongue, Cameroonian journalist and political refugee, in support of albino and disabled people, and wanted Oxana, an African albino model, young spokesperson for the project and always active in the fight against inequalities and all forms of discrimination.

“We wanted to focus our attention on the projects carried out by this association dedicated to the situation of albinos, visually impaired from birth and discriminated by the color of their skin, focusing on those who, like Oxana, have used their celebrity to raise awareness on a little-known situation. Our brand is inclusive to the extent that it tells different values in which the community can find itself and which it can perceive through our collections and the messages they contain”.
A social commitment inherent in Sophia Nubes, who has always chosen to put herself at the forefront in support of minorities and in favor of scientific research, becoming the spokesperson for a style that, transcending pure lifestyle, shares impactful values and contents. The support given to Dress for Success also fits into this context with the creation of a customized WeAreAhead t-shirt whose sales revenues will go to support the association’s activities aimed at promoting female empowerment in the name of a philosophy truly inclusive.
A message that is reflected in the FW 2021 collection, which is expressed first of all through the codes of contemporary art, and which also comes to life from the collaboration with Ottavio Mangiarini, the artist author of the ornithological diary, whose paintings have become the protagonists of a selection of Sophia Nubes shirts.
The bond with art continues in the stylistic choice of the shooting hosted within the Il Rivellino gallery founded and directed by Arminio Sciolli.
At the heart of the Sophia Nubes aesthetic, the naturalness of the winter, sea, and desert sand, emphasised by an intense palette scratched by animal prints, all declined in the brand’s chosen texture, jersey, worked with a sartorial hand with light points and rhinestones that illuminate the femininity of jackets, trousers, dresses and outerwear.
