Saks Fifth Avenue x The Emoji Movie
Saks Fifth Avenue celebrated the upcoming opening of “The Emoji Movie” with a get together to unveil a limited-edition collection and emotive windows at the flagship store. On hand were some of the stars who voiced the picture including Maya Rudolph, Jake T. Austin, and Liam Aiken; pop star Paula Abdul; Emojipedia founder Jeremy Burge; along with fashion luminaries Fern Mallis, Matthew Chevallard of Del Toro footwear, and John Antonini, Saks Fifth Avenue director of New York stores. Inspired by the animated film, Saks Fifth Avenue and Sony Pictures collaborated with some leading fashion brands such as Jason Wu, Mackage, Gents, Havaianas, and Orlebar Brown to introduce a range of ready-to-wear, outerwear and accessories. Guests enjoyed drinks and bites at Café SFA on the eighth floor of the store where Mr. Antonini spoke of the Emoji partnership as a way Saks elevates shopping to an experience. The film’s co-writer and director Tony Leondis was discussing the family fun of the movie when he admired the Fleur’d boutonniere pin worn by photographer Andrew Werner who promptly gave it to him. Everyone seemed particularly excited about the Mitene & Sony Music Communications interactive technology installed at the Saks windows, enabling everyone to interact with emoji characters from the film. The Saks Emoji windows will be on view through the end of July.
