“ONCE UPON A HOLIDAY” WINDOWS

SAKS FIFTH AVENUE AND DISNEY UNVEIL

Heigh ho! Unfolding like a fairy tale come true, Saks Fifth Avenue unveiled its legendary holiday windows with a ten-story high theatrical light show commemorating the 80th anniversary of Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. On hand for the festive occasion were Saks President Marc Metrick and Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media Chairman Jimmy Pitaro who welcomed actress Naomi Watts and star Neil Patrick Harris who came with husband David Burtka and their two children. This Mastercard presented spectacle called “Once Upon a Holiday” was headlined by “Descendants” star Sofia Carson, who was backed by a 40-person choir, along with Snow White, the Prince, and the seven dwarfs.

Crowds thronged the fourteen windows wrapped around the flagship along Fifth Avenue, 49th and 50th steets that featured ravishing depictions of scenes from the 1937 animated film classic – Snow White among the woodland creatures, the dwarfs in the diamond mines, the Evil Queen with her poisoned apple and magic mirror. With revolutionary 3D layering, original artworks from the film are incorporated as backdrops of each display. Equally dazzling were the one-of-a-kind enchanting gowns created especially for Saks by leading designers Alberta Ferretti, Naeem Khan, Monique Lhuillier, and Marchesa for a 21st century Snow White.

The collaboration between Saks and Disney presents many ways both are honoring the film’s legacy in bringing magic to family celebrations. Shoppers at Saks Fifth Avenue will also enjoy several Disney related specials at the Holiday Shop on the second floor: a Mastercard holiday photo booth enables them to be a part of the Saks windows; limited edition Saks and Disney collaborated merchandise collection; holiday décor; and a pop-up hot chocolate stand from New York City favorite café, City Bakery, are open now through Christmas. As is tradition, the holiday windows will be on display till just after New Year’s.
