Runway 7 Kicked Off Their Full Schedule of Must-See Shows with an Exciting Runway Competition, Followed by a History-Making Presentation by ChloePearl and Highly-Anticipated Runway Debuts from Susanne Bartsch and Gaucho – Buenos Aires
New York, NY (February14, 2022)–Vertical one stop fashion platform Runway 7at NYFW closed their second full day of unforgettable exciting shows, performances, and installations for New York Fashion Week at Sony Hall at 235 W 46th Street. More than 30 indie and established designers debuted their new Fall 2022 collections at Runway7 at NYFW including Malan Breton, Bartschland, the highly anticipated new fashion brand from nightlife queen Susanne Bartsch, Gaucho – Buenos Aires, the luxury leather goods brand that made its runway debut this season, and ChloePearl who made history as the youngest designer to show at NYFW when she debuted her new eponymous lingerie line today.
Runway 7 at NYFW kicked off on Thursday, February 10thwith a live runway competition featuring the best in upcoming talent. Officially known as Soho Muse x Runway 7 present Runway Muse, Runway 7 produced the show in collaboration with SohoMuse, the professional networking website for the global creative community. Both live-streamed and showcased in front of a live audience of fashion insiders, influencers, press, and buyers, the competition featured two looks each from a curated selection of graduating fashion design students. Billboard recording artist Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin hosted the event, and the winners were chosen by an iconic panel of judges that includedPaperMagazine editor-at-large Mickey Boardman, celebrated journalist and style expert Joseph De Acetis, fashion business coach Elliot Carlyle, actress and model Debbie Dickinson, and fashion designer and CFDA member Naeem Khan, who presented his Spring / Summer 2020 collection at Runway 7 at NYFW in September 2021.
Fashion Institute of South Florida student Desislava Simeonova was awarded first prize, Jacqueline Mones of MassArt in Boston earned second place, and Miami International University of Art & Design’s Francys Lorena Herrera was the third runner up. All three will be awarded the exclusive opportunity to showcase their own original collections during the September 2022 Runway 7 NYFW event. Simeonova will be awarded an original 20-piece collection, Mones will be awarded a 15-piece collection, and Herrera will be awarded a 10-piece collection. In addition to a professionally produced runway show during NYFW in September 2022, all three winners will have their lines featured in the Soho Muse Marketplace, an e-commerce retail platform. Each designer will have an e-boutique designated specifically for direct-to-consumer sales, and online exposure for one year.
Following the Runway Muse competition were presentations by Peach & Penny, showing off their latest collection of couture, hand sewn frocks for petite fashionistas, Ydamys Simo, influencer fashion brand CHICK, Jheez, Body by Rosa Acosta, genderless athleisurewear brand blk top KOPE, Hoodgrind Apparel, Riddim Driven, and Pentard Couture. Trans Clothing Company, the first clothing brand designed specifically for the transgender community featured the youngest ever trans model walking in their presentation at Runway 7 and couture and bridal designer Sarah Kolis, Lotus & Lime, OlaHou Designs, ASBAR, ABAS, and Hattie & George also debuted their Fall 2022 collections on Thursday runway 7 at NYFW.
A highlight of the Thursday schedule was the presentation by OKNESUDED x Nicole Volynets, which opened with an epic, raw performance by guitar-driven hard rock band Dirty Old Gangsters (DOG), whose lead singer is film and television actor Wass Stevens. Creative Director, Dancing with the Stars’ Nicole Volynets, drew inspiration from architecture and militaria, with each garment in the zero waste, made to order, size-inclusive collection a potent weapon, both empowering and alluring.
The Friday, February 11th schedule for Runway 7 at NYFW opened with an inspired new collection from Potro, the menswear brand from acclaimed Forbes contributor Joseph DeAcetis, followed by memorable presentations by Bryknolo, ForeverLavi, sustainable fashion brand Only by A.M., Dovi Art Fashion, AurellaBatista, DIYAAR, ImmortalInk Clothing, and Lordvan. Minimal luxe swimwear brand Kino Swim, MarisEqui, RYSLive, and NicolettaValentina also debuted new collections and CHICK showed a second, fabulous presentation.
Actor Titus Burgess, Danny Burstein, star of Broadway’s MoulinRouge, and Miss J Alexander from America’s Next Top Model were front row to see Malan Breton, the award-winning designer, costumier, film and music video director, producer, musician, columnist, and photographer, mark his 25th anniversary in the fashion industry as he debuted his Fall / Winter 2022 Collection at Runway 7 at NYFW in an inspired presentation of fine jewelry, ready to wear, and eveningwear inspired by Ridley Scott’s 1982 film Blade Runner. Mason Grammar, daughter of Kelsey Grammer and Camille Grammar, Irina Pantaeva, Billboard Recording Artist Consuelo VanderbiltCostin, GeorginaPazcoguin of the New York City Ballet and Project Runway’sMimiTao walked in beautiful looks including smart striped and shimmery rose gold suiting, ball gowns in lush jewel tones and chic tweed and fur coats. As part of his presentation, Malan Breton debuted couture NFT created as a 3D animation. The buyer can become a fully animated supermodel by completing a photo scan of the human body to become an avatar.
On Friday evening, the debut collection of Bartsch and, the highly anticipated new brand from fashion icon and international queen of nightlife, Susanne Bartsch, opened with a model whose shoots shot out fire. Entitled “Look”, the presentation featured ensembles that would be at home among the guests of one of the infamous parties Susanne Bartsch is known for throwing, including newsprint jumpsuits, logo embellished bodysuits, screen printed micro mini dresses, and tulle skirts in bold neon hues inspired by the splendor and nostalgia of the 80s and 90s club scenes. Bartsch called upon her nightlife friends, including famed drag queen Scarlet Envy, to model the new looks from Bartschland in a presentation that also featured works from six underground designers: CaseyCaldwell, DopeTavio, Guvanch, JessicaJade, KimMesches, ShoKonishi. Once referred to as “Mother Teresa in a glitter G-string”, Susanne Bartsch escaped to London as a teenager, where she befriended rock royalty and underground fashionistas alike while selling clothing and antiques at Chelsea Market. For the past three decades, she has thrown iconic parties from Paris to Tokyo where countless creative souls continuously flock to express themselves, commune and shed the humdrum monotony of everyday life.
Seventeen-year-old social media influencer, designer and xennial Chloe Pearl made history on the Runway 7 stages as the youngest fashion designer to show at NYFW when she debuted the first collection from her size-inclusive eponymous line, Chloe Pearl Lingerie. Her 21-piece “Marie Antoinette Collection” featured beautifully elevated lingerie styles that have the ease of daily lingerie but look like special-occasion pieces. Chloe Pearl, whose mantra is “Be the Love of Your Life,” has built her brand on the tenants of -self-love, femininity and authenticity making her an inspiration to her loyal fan base of young women the world over. The Miami-born teen has a background in costume design and fashion styling and has managed social media accounts for designers CD Greene and Gelareh Mizrahi. Chloe Pearl lives in New York City. Before creating her fashion line, Chloe Pearl built a customer base and honed her business acumen by selling vintage finds via the app Depop.
Che Malambo, the powerhouse all-male Argentinian dance company that gained international acclaim on Broadway, opened the final presentation of the Runway 7 at New York Fashion Week schedule at a presentation forGaucho – Buenos Aires. Their inspired, high-energy performance combined the precision footwork, rhythmic stomping, drumming and song for which the group is world-renowned. Actor, model, and influencer Neels Visseropened the Gaucho – Buenos Aires show in the hottest look from the brand’s new Fall 2022 collection, a suede vest and black leather pants styled with a silk scarf and black leather bag. Highlights of the show, which included 26 looks, included a cognac brown suede jacket and fringe skirt ensemble styled with a black silk neck scarf and brown Quintana hat, a black quilted leather jacket for women shown with black leather biker shorts, a wool blended horse gaucho blanket and the brand’s best-selling, evergreen Lucky Bag. Following the presentation, Neels Visser held a live stream and interview with the newly named Director of Design, the creative multihyphenate Lautaro Garcia de la Peña. The collection was inspired by how Argentina interacts with the world and the collection plays with influences that span history, culture, design, and place, weaving the strength, integrity, and resilience of a storied culture into each piece to create a new modern glamour rooted in timeless tradition.
