Reviewing Virgil Abloh’s 4 Best Off-White Collaborations

Virgil Abloh was named one of Time’s most influential people in 2018—and years later, he continues to impress the public with his artistic talents. Abloh is a trained architect who has launched art shows and became a successful DJ. But the biggest feather in his cap is his revolutionary and disruptive career in the fashion industry.

True to his nature, Abloh wears many hats within the industry itself. Not only is he the Artistic Director of menswear at Louis Vuitton, which is already a prestigious position to hold in fashion, he is also the founder and CEO of Off-White. The luxury streetwear brand is known for avant-garde style, as evidenced by its androgynous Adam is Eve SS21 collection . Off-White has a unique position in the fashion industry, so it’s no surprise that several brands have been lining up to collaborate with the label. To showcase Virgil Abloh’s artistic talents, here are Off-White’s 4 best collaborations.

In 2016, Levi’s Made & Crafted collaborated with Off-White on a special collection that featured eleven items. Levi’s classic denim pieces were infused with Off-White’s progressive style and together, they made a colorful collection filled with gender-neutral pieces. Different blue denim jackets and pants were color-blocked with bright hues. As a result, the androgynous clothing looked like it would never go out of style because it was both classic and modern.

As a true artistic genius, Virgil Abloh is not only well-versed in creating clothing, he’s also good at designing shoes. In 2017, Off-White and Nike teamed up for The Ten Project, where ten of the apparel brand’s best-selling sneakers were revamped. These included the Nike Air Jordan 1, Air Force 1, and Air Max 90. Since then, Abloh has released several Nike collaborations, including kicks designed for Serena Williams. If you’re a sneakerhead, then get excited for the upcoming Off-White x Nike Dunk collection to be released in August. This new highly anticipated partnership between the two brands features 50 sneakers that have unique colorways, insoles, zip-ties, and lot numbers. Much like the previous collections, you can expect that this will be a great hit!

Whether they’re sneakers or heels, Virgil Abloh can definitely pull it off! In 2018, Off-White partnered with British high fashion house Jimmy Choo to create a special shoe collection. Jimmy Choo Creative Director Sandra Choi stated that the collaboration served as a lab concept for her to step outside the box, and she was successfully able to do so with the help of Abloh. Together, the streetwear and the high fashion brand released a line of heels and boots that were wrapped in plastic. The pairs of shoes were both hip and elegant, fully representing what both fashion brands stand for.

Off-White definitely knows no bounds because they have released a tongue-in-cheek collaboration with IKEA! Their products include a wall clock with the word ‘temporary’ written on it, as well as a backlit replica of the Mona Lisa. In an interview with Architectural Digest, Abloh explained that he wanted to give furniture items an unexpected twist. As a result, buyers get thought-provoking pieces that will definitely be a conversation starter in your home.

Off-White is incredibly popular and truly deserving of all the hype. Virgil Abloh is a true creative genius who can turn clothes, shoes, and even furniture into a unique piece of art.
