The dynamic DJ and producer hailing from San Diego, California Ookay has left an indelible mark on the electronic music scene with his versatile sound spanning house and trap-style productions. His musical journey took off with a bang, driven by hits like the 2016 chart-topper “Thief” and the 2017 collaborations “Stay Forever” with Marshmella and Noah Cyrus. With an impressive catalog of consistent singles and EPs over five years, Ookay reached a significant milestone in 2018 with his debut full-length album, “Wow! Cool Album!”
Originally known as Abraham Laguna and producing under the alias Leisure, Ookay quickly gained recognition for his high-energy brand of house music. As his career evolved, he seamlessly transitioned into the realm of trap-oriented sounds, adopting the moniker Ookay. The visionary 27-year-old producer JSTJR refuses to be condoned by subgenres and labels, instead allowing his music to be an evocative fusion of imagery and emotion. His sonic journey transcends borders, pulsating through the world’s most electrifying nightclubs, from Lisbon to Los Angeles to Lima. JSTJR’s global sound, celebrated for its authenticity, has earned him official releases on revered dance music labels, including Insomniac Records, Mad Decent, Fool’s Gold, and SMOG.
Recognized as the US ambassador of Buraka Som Sistema’s groundbreaking zouk bass movement, this New England native’s musical identity is a tapestry woven from regional sounds worldwide, blended seamlessly with his inherent passion for hip-hop and experimental electronic production.
