FRANCESCA LIBERATORE FINDS FEMININITY WITHOUT BOUNDARIES
Francesca Liberatore continued her explorations on duality with a collection that astutely juxtaposed linear with free flowing silhouettes, ethereal and bold looks, and soft materials with metallic surfaces in mixes of French lace, silk jacquard and cottons. Her concepts find beautiful life in the shimmering print of watch mechanisms meant as a glimpse into metaphoric inner workings as well as a contemplation of time itself.
There are also evident nods to rural American themes and journeys of flight. Colors also turned in both directions: from pale to dark tones – whites and dove grays, pale blues and yellows to greens and violets. Once dubbed by fashion insiders as an “enfant prodige”, Ms. Liberatore has certainly grown in confidence with her eponymous line since she launched in 2009.
By now, her collections have been shown at events all over the world – from St. Petersburg to Berlin, from Shanghai to Dubai – but she has maintained a kinship and loyalty to unveiling at New York Fashion Week. Her global excursions certainly reflect the cosmopolitan attitude of her pieces that work well within the context of New York city living with its teeming multi cultural populace.
