Ron Barceló Rum honored its proud Dominican heritage with the release of a limited edition bottle for Barceló Añejo created by acclaimed contemporary artist and designer M. Tony Peralta at Rio Gallery II.
Welcoming guests to the rooftop soiree, live band Karlin & Tropical Sounds played salsa as guests nibbled on bites of Ceviche on Tostones, chicken and spicy veggies Empanadas, Chicken Skewers and Yuca and Cheese Balls, taken from small colorful “colmaditos” (Dominican bodegas) lining the rooftop. All admired the special edition’s art while sipping specialty Ron Barceló cocktails like the Watermelon Mojito and the Limoncello.
Culminating the festivity, M. Tony thanked all guests for attending noting it was a special project close to his heart. “Much like what the Ron Barceló brand represents, the photographs I chose for the Añejo bottle symbolize the aspects of the Dominican Republic I love, which are family, the people and things that make our culture unique.”
Inspired by M. Tony’s desire to reconnect with his Dominican heritage, the New York-born Dominican embarked on a journey of reacquaintance with the island nation 12 years ago. The objective was to bring to life culturally symbolic designs in a series of photographs depicting his most impactful moments and experiences of Dominican culture. Peralta’s artistic interpretation ultimately personifies Barceló Añejo, a golden, amber rum whose bold, rich notes hold woody aromas of butterscotch and toffee with flavors of vanilla bean, caramel and spice. Only 1,200 cases (less than 1.5% of the brand’s annual U.S. sales) will be available for the U.S.
