CITY OF MIAMI BEACH OFFICIALLY DECLARES NEW ORDER DAY
From classic new wave dance anthems such as Blue Monday, Bizarre Love Triangle, True Faith, Regret and Age of Consent, to countless B-side gems, New Order has earned its status as one of the most iconic bands in music history.
New Order chose Live Nation’s Fillmore Miami Beach as the home of their first North American 4-day concert residency. This makes sense since their distinct dance-synth-rock sound has become the foundation for many of today’s electronic dance music styles that keep Miami pulsating.
To honor the innovative and progressive band, the City of Miami Beach officially proclaimed January 15, 2020 as NEW ORDER DAY which will now be permanently recorded into city history. Vice Mayor Michael Gongora, the popular elected official who is perhaps the most engaged in promoting arts, music, and culture to the city, presented the award on stage [Excerpt]:

We thank New Order for bringing their international talent to Miami Beach!
NOW THEREFORE, DO WE, as Mayor and Commissioner of the City of Miami Beach, hereby proclaim January 15, 2020 as NEW ORDER DAY in the City of Miami Beach.

Following the recent announcement of 2020’s Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductees which include Depeche Mode and NIN, Vice Mayor Michael Gongora also exclaimed that “although New Order has already been inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame, don’t you think it’s about time that New Order | Joy Division be inducted into the US Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!!!??” to an arena full of chanting supporters.
The Wednesday show kept the crowd of young and young at heart dancing on their feet for almost 2 hours long. The show culminated with a live encore of Joy Division’s signature “Love Will Tear Us Apart.” However, in this case, we all know that nothing will ever tear New Order and Miami Beach apart.
