When a Nikon ambassador, Zoo Miami communications director, animal emissary and doting hubby like Ron Magill collaborates with his friend, the distinguished, very celebrated, Miami Herald Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist, Carl Juste, to tell their stories through photography, well, it’s simply magical and inspirational. Being able to see the emotionally narrative works of Juste’s “Havana, Haiti” exhibit, a showcase of the parallels of two diverse cultures meshing through the eyes of a man born to a Haitian father and a Cuban mother, a boy whose prominent family fled persecution in Haiti and moved to America, ultimately landing in Miami to re-establish and create the foundation for today’s Little Haiti. Seeing these forces of nature together at this cozy, private Cafecito Chat Live with Cuban and Haitian-inspired food and drink sponsored by FIU Office of Engagement at IPC ArtSpace Gallery in Little Haiti, two local legends juxtaposed, sharing their raw emotions through storytelling, and candidly exposing themselves through their individual lenses, our hearts were full.

But then there’s Ron and the animals… He’s their champion. And in his newest, collaborative exhibit with Carl, he reminds us to have respect for the natural world, a world we live in and should protect and cherish. Because – it’s our only home and it doesn’t just belong to us, it belongs to our animal friends too. Because – without them, there is no us. Privileged to be among the intimate group of guests to preview the upcoming exhibit by Ron and Carl called “CONNECTION: Wildlife + People = US,” creating more awareness of the connection between wildlife and humans through the eyes and lens of Ron Magill, debuting to the public appropriately on Earth Day, April 22, 2022.

Lest us forget, Ron and Rita, spouses that lift each other up with mutual respect, support and admiration. Equally amazing individuals on their own, synergistically better together, they make it look effortless. So, whether it’s Ron and Rita, Ron and Carl or Ron and the animals, there’s a common theme here – Connection. And maybe even, couples’ goals. Staying connected to nature and our human relationships as a gift to Mother Earth during her birthday month and always, that is the real objective here.
