Ron Barceló and Miami-based artist Ruben Ubiera celebrated the melding of art, spirit and their mutual proud Dominican heritage with the launch of the new Ubiera-designed Limited Edition Barceló Añejo Rum bottle at Wynwood Diner.

In collaboration with International Opulence Magazine‘s Summer issue, the trendy venue transformed into a rum cellar adorned with the unique golden bottles, Ghurka cigars, copper punch bowls and intimate lanterned lighting. 150 taste makers, art aficionados and spirits connoisseurs enjoyed Ron Barceló’s new summer cocktails Just the Two of Us, a tropical mango libation and Pretty Girl, a skinny take on the mojito paired with bites of Fried Green TomatoClassic Cheese Burger and El Cubano sandwiches.

Ruben Ubiera toasted his guests while signing select bottles, gave insight to his collaboration with the Dominican brand. “The artwork created for this specific bottle is a marriage of the old and the new in a Postgraffism style that defines new directions for the future and defies all who stand in front of it. Bold, fierce, in your face and very proud, just like my people. I moved to the U.S. to make a career out of art and my project with Ron Barceló marks a full circle.”

The interpretation best personifies Barceló Añejo, a golden, amber rum whose bold, rich notes hold woody aromas of butterscotch and toffee with flavors of vanilla bean, caramel and spice.

Imported in the U.S. by Shaw-Ross International Importers, the Ruben Ubiera Limited Edition Barcelo Añejo 750ml bottle is available at retail stores in the east coast markets of Florida, New Jersey and New York. Quantities of the Ruben Ubiera bottle are very limited; only 1,000 cases (less than 2% of the brand’s total U.S. sales) will be available for the U.S.
