No longer the run of the mill uniform of past seasons, men’s fashion has been evolving rapidly in recent years. Moving toward a more fashion-forward aesthetic inspired by both European and Asian design, and incorporating retro motifs with modern trends, designers have men exploring new ideas and following trends more and more. Oversized layers popularized by asian pop artists like K-Pop, have made way for a return of the three-quarter and floor-length coats and outerwear. Mid layer jackets now have a more fun approach, from safari motifs to flower patters, anything and everything goes in a light-weight summer jacket for 2016.
Summer is the season in which you don’t have to be afraid of color- Pre-Fall and Fall collections have featured dark primary colors, and now we are all ready to explode in colorful combinations. Colored blazers, bags, shirts or tie, this summer season incorporate color in however you feel comfortable doing so. Prints are a stand-out feature amongst the collections: from tapestry and upholstery inspired looks like a damask print, to florals and even animal prints- the 90’s and 70’s are evoked in a stylish throwback into trends as well, so you’ll get more wear and versatility out of such purchases. For professional attire you want to stick to muted colors for dress shirts, but color and print statement jackets and coats look fresh and surprisingly professional. If you’re going for a pop of color, do just that- don’t overload or mix prints unless you feel confident.
