How Meghan Markle’s Effortless Chic Looks Are Making A Personal Statement

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are embracing their American life inside their Californian mansion and to fully adopt this new lifestyle, Meghan plays a role in her everyday style and outfit choices. While The Duchess of Sussex might hold a slew of stereotypes, her wardrobe always correlates with her stalwart personality. From her casual ensembles to Meghan’s effortless chic looks, each outfit plays a role in her advocacy for change and equality.

The Suits alum is no stranger in conveying her thoughts and expressing her ideas through garments. Recently, the California native has proved her point by wearing international designers and other graphic tees during interviews. Though Meghan stepped back as a senior member of the royal family, she raises her voice through her clothing items. During an interview, Meghan impressed fans with an asymmetric knit top from Haitian designer Victor Glemaud. The camel-hued top, $375 was paired with dark brown leather trousers – a fall staple that Meghan appears to favorite. Aside from showcasing her elegant silhouette, the meaning behind Meghan’s designer choice was to celebrate Black History Month.

How Meghan Markle’s effortless chic looks are making a personal statement

Lately, Meghan has been spotted wearing neutral tones for fall as seen on her recent date night with Prince Harry. The Duchess of Sussex wore a tan turtleneck with a camel-toned trench coat that she effortlessly donned over her shoulders. Trench coats are an essential item for fall since they match with most clothing items. Meghan clearly understands how to elevate her style with classic pieces like Club Monaco’s Khaki Reissue Trench that features double-breasted styling with short sleeves and seamed cuffs.

casual t-shirt with the RBG initials

Another of Meghan’s attire includes a casual t-shirt that she wore on the Teenage Therapy podcast. Meghan opted for a casual t-shirt with the RBG initials paired with blue jeans and a striped jumper. Her Etsy T-shirt paid homage to the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died at age 87. But what stood out the most during her podcast appearance was her black face mask with an embroidered quote “When there are nine”. This statement is in reference to a famous reply from RBG when asked “When will the Supreme Court have enough women?” Clearly, Meghan was honoring RBG’s response to note the importance of having women in the upper echelons.

During the podcast, Meghan spoke about her personal experience as a royal and how she dealt with online trolls. “I don’t care if you’re 15 or you’re 25, if people are saying things about you that aren’t true, what that does to your mental and emotional health is so damaging,” shared Meghan on the podcast. “We all know what it feels like to be isolated…we are all figuring it out.”

Meghan definitely figured out what to wear for her latest virtual appearance in a conversation with Pakistani activist, Malala Yousafzai. Meghan shifted from her casual outfit to a classy business look. She wore a ribbed sleeveless turtleneck piece from TUXE Bodywear and a neutral-hued trouser. She conquered this look with minimal makeup, dark-cherry lipstick and a classic low bun. Her outfit choice reveals a presence of authority and power; qualities that she wants to champion and encourage every woman to have.

“When a woman is present at the table she’s going to be advocating for an entire family as opposed to a patriarchal presence,” she shared with Malala while continuing the conversation on girls’ education, women’s rights and how her family has been adjusting to their new home. Meghan is proof that chic and comfort are not isolated and can be shown with elegant pieces that make a personal statement. Especially when amplifying female voices.
