Milano fashion week is the moment of the year when you discover the excellence of Italian design in a wider spectrum. Alongside with the runways, where main brands display their new collections, a huge amount of luxury design is presented in the most breathtaking locations in the city, reminding you that it is in the DNA of this country to be fashionably creative, and there is room for every taste.
At the first floor of Palazzo Parigi, one of the most celebrated five stars luxury hotels in Milano, Loretta Caponi hosted the event to present its ready to wear ladies fall-winter collection 2019/2020.
The story of the brand began in 1967, with the opening of the shop Borgo Ognissanti in Florence, with the wish to celebrate the art of embroidery. Loretta Caponi was a devotee to the quality of the past, combining cottons, linen and silk during a period dominated by nylon and synthetics.
It is now her daughter Lucia, creative director of the brand and talented painter who creates the pattern for the collection and that leads the heritage, while her son Guido Conti Caponi is in charge of engaging millennials bringing the vision into the new media.
Typically, Loretta Caponi’s clients for the last 50 years have been nobles, emirs, rock stars, influencers and art connoisseurs. Her collection displays a selection of exquisite 18th century influenced embroideries translated into contemporary luxury.
Creative Director and daughter of Loretta Caponi, Lucia Caponi, introduces the collection by saying that the starting point for it, was an outfit that dated from 1936. It was created for Marlene Dietrich for the film “The Garden of Allah”.
This outfit is a vintage black silk velvet robe with sleeves in black dotted white tulle, today part of Loretta Caponi private collection. A collection made by more than one thousand pieces that range from the XVI century to 1960, when ideally her source of inspiration ends.
The new collection balances oriental influences with the 1930ies sense of seduction and what makes it stand out, is that it is thought as an indoor/outdoor collection. Amazingly, all robes would work perfectly as coats and overcoats.
The 19 creations for fall/winter 2019 include printed pink roses on black striped silk velvet robes, red roses on smocked georgette, white cashmere with quilted black silver and velvet collars.
It is a very elegant homage to Hollywood flair and the refined embroideries that are the core signature of the brand are happy and bright butterflies on hooded robes, romantic roses and elegant birds.
Loretta Caponi is a very traditional brand from Florence, which is historically where qualitative fashion came from. It is still a heart of design, creativity and manufacture. Milano Fashion Week allows many of the beauty that is still created in Florence, to reach the capital of fashion and get known outside the borders to a wider public.
Loretta Caponi is a brand for nostalgic, very feminine and strong women who want to be young and classy at the same time. It is a strong bridge between past and present and represent a huge side of the celebrated Italian style: the will to stay timeless.
