Interview With Jordana Guimaraes Co-Founder at Fashinnovation
A serial entrepreneur and co-founder of FASHINNOVATION, Jordana Guimaraes originally hails from Rio de Janeiro. She started her own marketing & PR consultancy, which she ran for 16 years, where she worked with brands including Nina Ricci Jewelry, Porsche Design Accessories, Lanvin, etc. Jordana then created The NYLON Project, and recently wrote the book, It Can Be You to humanize homelessness via the voices of fashion influencers, and most recently co-founded FASHINNOVATION with her husband, Marcelo in 2018.
FASHINNOVATION is a community & events platform that connects entrepreneurs and innovators to create revolutionary change in the fashion industry, especially through technology. Jordana & Marcelo have two children — Isabel & Ariana and resides in Palm Beach, FL.
Can you share with us your background and the background behind Fashinnovation?
My background has been 16+ years of PR and marketing in the fashion industry. I have always worked with brands and finding ways to bring social impact and giving back/cause affiliations for the brands via events or branding/messaging. My husband – Marcelo Guimaraes – who is my business partner at Fashinnovation comes from an entrepreneurial background, in assisting companies to internationalize from South America to North America with a focus/differentiation in tech. Fashinnovation is the perfect mix of our worlds!
What is the brand’s vision behind the Fashinnovation?
It’s to merge the gap in conversation between the technology space and the fashion industry, with a focus on entrepreneurship and sustainability.
What do you think makes the Fashinnovation Brand stand out? Can you share a story?
I think what makes us stand out is the true inclusive nature that we bring to the industry. We bring voices from technologists *that are not fashion related*, institutions, designers, CEO’s and that truly allows for an opening in what’s always been very closed off as an industry, to shape the way we should move forward to improve it. We have two key pillars we focus on for the fashion industry on a global scale: Sustainability and Technology. I feel like this is a white space we found from the beginning in which we were able to tackle.
Is the brand working on any exciting new projects now?
Yes – we are looking to roll out new business development and educational products that we can offer year around for B2B and B2C in 2021 – stay tuned!
