INNOVATIVE BYBLOS AT MILAN FASHION WEEK

INNOVATIVE BYBLOS AT MILAN FASHION WEEK

Byblos had its scenographic show during Milan Fashion Week at the Navigli district, heart of the nightlife in Milan. To present its fall/winter collection 2019, the brand had a lot of surprises for us.

The scene was a graphic representation of a polar landscape, floor and ceiling dominated the room with a very shiny and partially glossy white and did set the mood for a Northern land feeling. The bright diffused lights showered the runway, which in its turn was a combination of a these wide white squares and a polygonal canopy with geometric lights and colours inspired by the Aurora Borealis. The show implied the use of the whole scene, having models walking on all sides of the square at all time.

The men/women collection revealed the sportive inspiration of the brand, and Creative Director Manuel Facchini presented an impactful collection were sustainability was a core value.
To design the collection, inspired by glaciers and arctic landscapes, recycled plastic translated into a new life from bottles to precious parts and pearls of the dresses, many of which were elegant second-skin silhouettes for a more urban life. Recycled was chosen for jackets while origami appear on both men and women styles, representing ice breaking and melting. Fake fur was on both outwears and boots. It was a very bold and brilliant selection of impactful pieces.
Main colors were pink, blue, aquamarine, orange and purple, in the spirit of the new season, vivid and shiny, both solid and mixed in liquid and iridescent designs that embellish the collection together with fake furs, bold cuts and hockey inspired streetwear. Bold is definitely the best world to describe this collection. But also aware and brave in its choices in favour of the environment and sustainability. Manuel Facchini definitely offered a show that wanted to give answers, not only amazement.
Streetwear is making a significant entrance in the otherwise well known pret-a-porter election of Milan Fashion Week. Byblos brought the focus on sustainability with its fabrics, and on the environmental issues related to global heating.
Manuel Facchini makes a witty use of hi-tech, 3D, origami design, bold accessories and fake fur in a collection that represents a statement for a renewed aesthetics that looks at its future with both bold and wearable answers.
Model Winnie Harlow’s entrance with a long shining dress crowned Byblos’ innovative fall/winter collection 2019, an entrance that she repeated in company of Manuel Facchini at the very end of the runway, welcomed by a cheering audience. Both very rightfully praised by the guests and visitors.
