We recently had the pleasure of visiting one of the most elegant and highly-rated steakhouses in South Florida, Diplomat Prime Steakhouse, located at the Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Florida. With the AAA 4 Diamond Award, 500 plus varietals with 3 onsite sommeliers, and Wine Spectator’s “Award of Excellence for 2022, we arrived with high expectations and it was definitely delivered.
The reception and welcoming were very pleasant and professional. Our hostess was elegant and classy, and she walked us through the well-appointed lounge bar to our table in style. The dining room decor was beautiful, tasteful, and at the same time classic. The lighting was perfect and the blue velvet touches were exquisite.
We started our journey with a signature handcrafted smokeD Phashion, which includes Knob Creek Rye, Orange and Angostura Bitters, Brown Sugar, and Orange Peel. It was the right selection to start this amazing experience.
Next, we had the delectable Blue Crab Cocktail. It was light and you could taste the freshness of the ocean. The Octopus Edamame followed with a presentation that was vibrant, and the tenderness throughout the octopus melted in our mouths. Kudos to the chef for evenly cooking this type of protein so perfectly by masterfully handling the different shapes and sizes throughout the portion.
Our meal continued with our entrees and unique sides under the direction of Executive Chef, Rashaad Abdool. I had the Crab-Crusted Halibut with pickled cherry tomatoes, and my colleague had the 16oz 45-day Prime Dry Aged New York Strip. I was literally blown away by the balance of flavors the chef used to create this halibut dish. Each bite was a party of fireworks exploding. It was light but rich in its own way, and the pickled cherry tomatoes gave a burst of acid throughout every bite that cut through its richness. It was a mind-blowing balance of ingredients and perfect preparation.
The 45-day Prime Dry Aged New York Strip was a perfectly prepared medium rare, with a pan-seared garlic buttered caramelization that was a mouth-watering and succulent taste of heaven.
Our meals were paired with the perfect wine suggestions of Pinot Griggio and Cabernet Sauvignon, with side options that complemented our entrées including Lobster Mac and Cheese, Sautéed Mushrooms, Charred Broccolini, and Truffle Whipped Potatoes.
The Sautéed Mushrooms were hearty and full of flavor, with an array of oyster and portobello mushrooms. The Broccolini was crisp, bright, with a toothsome bite, that kept us going back for more. The Truffle Mashed Potatoes complimented the steak perfectly, and the Lobster Mac and Cheese was rich, creamy, and had extra cheesy goodness in every bite.
Our dessert of course was Crème Brûlée. What is there to say? A creamy, light, fluffy, and firm custard with a perfectly burnt sugar shell on top that cracked with the dip of a spoon.
We highly recommend you visit Diplomat Prime, and we will definitely be back. This was a meal to be remembered and shared with others.
