Giorgio Armani: One of the Most Influential Designers on the Planet

Giorgio-Armani
Giogio Armani - New York Style GuideIconic designer Giorgio Armani once said this:

“I love things that age well – things that don’t date, that stand the test of time and that become living examples of the absolute best.”

One could say that beautifully describes the artistic vision Mr. Armani has carefully created for clothing and style. Each exquisite piece he designs becomes a timeless masterpiece. When it comes to menswear, he ranks at the very top in a league of his own. Leading men of Hollywood like Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Clive Owen and David Beckham are just a few of the stars who have set the style bar extremely high wearing Armani on the red carpet.

This intensely private gentleman was born and raised in Piacenza, Italy where he first dreamed of following a medical career. Within three years, he switched gears and joined the army, and after that, like a designer would take to a pair of scissors, Mr. Armani began cutting out a new pattern that would change his life forever.

The icon is in his eighties, and his brand just turned forty in 2015. In addition, his personal wealth is estimated at some $7 billion, according to Forbes. Men around the globe wear Giorgio Armani clothing, because it looks and fits so darn well. Mr. Armani is a genius at refined tailoring.

Mr. Armani believes that men should follow certain rules of style and mentioned several in an interview with Details a few years ago. Those fashionable standards still apply:

Choose a suit that is simple and clean.
“In other words, elegance, sophistication, and timeless style are always better than of-the-moment trends, which will date—and date the wearer.”

Style is in the buttons, gentlemen. Really.
“A two-button suit is more timeless than a three- or a one-button. A single-breasted is more versatile than double—allowing you to dress your suit up or down more freely and use the jacket as a separate more easily.”

A brightly colored suit is a no go, sir.
“When buying a suit, go for a color that will not date too soon, like a mid-tone gray or a black.”

Look at actor Richard Gere in the classic movie, American Gigolo, draped handsomely in Armani style. Every article of clothing is flawless and timeless.

Giorgio Armani has perfected the complete wardrobe of the modern man…
