Five Red Carpet Trends To Look Out For This Awards Season
With some of the biggest red carpet events of the year set to take place over the next few weeks, all eyes are set to be on the biggest film stars and celebrities and what they’re choosing to wear to the star-studded events. Everyone is keen to see the daring choices and flamboyant accessories which have been carefully chosen for Hollywood’s stars, so here are 5 red carpet trends that we can expect to see this awards season.
Various shades of pinks are sure to catch your eye over the next month or so. From peaches to bubblegums, the variety of feminine hue of pinks look truly gorgeous when used for a wide range of designs. From Michael Kors to Fendi, there is no designer who isn’t using a shade of pink somewhere in their catalogue of designs this year, much like what we saw at the 2018 Oscars.
White has and always will be a popular choice for award nominees and attendees. In recent iterations, white has been accentuated with smaller, romantic details. Lady Gaga recently wowed with a fringe trimmed taffeta coloured dress, while other celebrities have chosen feathered or jewelled details to adorn their gowns. Chanel and Ralph Lauren set to be the designers who favor this trend this season.
When it comes to makeup and hairstyles, celebrities put as much thought into these choices as they do their outfits. Not only is this a chance to try out a new hairstyle or daring makeup look, but also an opportunity for the stars to create a cult classic, depending on their final choices.
Colour coordination is set to be a huge focus on the red carpets this year, with stars and their designers expertly pulling off the most surprising colour coordinations. Yellow and teals don’t seem like they should work together, but Susan Kelechi Watson effortlessly managed to pull it off at the recent SAG awards. 20s-inspired waves and makeup styles are set to be massive at the upcoming events, with a nude gloss often tied together alongside a bright coloured eyeshadow.
Lingerie As Outerwear
For many years, celebs have chosen to feature their lingerie choices in their red carpet outfit designs. Whilst some are definitely not a dress, there are other outfits which have been exceptionally beautiful and delicate.
Kendall Jenner’s choice at the 2017 Met Gala was a metallic dress gown paired with a string thong, whereas Elsa Hosk’s gown design was effortlessly glam and compiled of a strapless bra, high-waisted panties and a sparkly, transparent dress. This year, expect to see a brave handful of stars daring all and pairing their luxury lingerie with their gowns.
All That Shimmers
It’ll be no surprise to hear that sequins and glitter embellishments are set to be a huge trend this year, if not the biggest. In sync with the spring 2018 trend which was much loved by Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs and more, a huge dose of sparkle is set to be served at this year’s events.
Whether it’s in small doses or fully adorns a lengthy gown, stars are set to shine with sequins and glitter, no matter their outfit choice. We can also expect to see this trend reflected in their makeup styles, with heavy eye-glitter rumoured to be a big focus for artists wanting to set their work apart from the rest.
