Her mother is an English professor and her father is an American painter. She has two younger brothers. When she was five years old, her family moved to San Diego, California. Emily attended Catholic school before transferring to a public high school.
Emily began modeling at the age of 14 after being discovered by a photographer while shopping with her mother in Los Angeles. She signed with Ford Models and appeared in print and online advertisements for companies such as Forever 21 and Kohl’s. In 2012, she appeared in the music video for Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines”, which became the number-one song of the year in the United States.
