Style Fashion Week SS18 Collection

You may find that many people don’t look forward to the month of September because it represents the end of their long-awaited vacations and the beginning of brisk temperatures to come. While this may be true, fashion lovers live for the month of September which brings them a week of what seems to be endless fashion shows and events to attend. Style fashion week was one of those events that were held from September 7th to the 9th and as usual, it didn’t disappoint.

Honee showcased the latest collection of her brand which was entitled “The Killing Fields” during the 9 pm show of Style Fashion Week. She has designed fashion garments for one year and this was her second collection. She entered the fashion industry with a background in industrial design and the healing art. The materials she uses for her garments are made with fabrics and metal. She layers them to create a living sculpture. Honee was inspired by “The Killing Fields” when she visited Cambodia earlier this year. She wanted to showcase her work via a pre-show video and through her designs representing the animals within us. She stated “We adorn ourselves with beautiful fashion made from the animal products yet as humans we commit such atrocities to our own kind. The animals give us their skin and flesh and we see ourselves as above them yet we choose to be lower than the animals when we kill and abuse them and our own. Where’s our humanity? This collection is a social statement on peace and to embrace our differences.”

What makes Honee’s collection unique is the felted fabrics were hand dyed and handmade by her and the raw silk and other fabrics were manipulated via different methods. Altogether, she showcased a total of 27 different garments during her fashion presentation. By the end of the show, it was clear that Style saved the best for last.
