The multi-dimensional lounge begins a new era with style & laid-back sophistication

Miami, FL (May 2018) – A pioneer in nightlife known for being the first bar/lounge in Wynwood Art District 9 years ago, Cafeina, a resto-lounge and gallery by entrepreneur Ivette Naranjo, reopens its oversized steel doors on Thursday, May 24. Since its debut during Art Basel 2009, Cafeina has carved a niche for itself as an intimate den of bohemian-chic aesthetic. Its fusion of art, ambiance and culinary prowess has helped lead a cultural revival in Wynwood not unlike Manhattan’s SoHo district, circa late 1960s. Naranjo’s double duty as a hard hat CEO by day and nightlife purveyor after sunset helped bring a renewed vigor into a forgotten neighborhood.

Cafeina’s interior boasts a 1,560-square-foot lounge and mezzanine, now styled in tropical modernist décor. Teal wood walls feature light infused cutouts that glow with an eye-catching purple hue, while gold accents, jewel tones, and ample greenery are accented with textured stools with natural wooden legs and sensuous velvet seating flank either side of the space. The main bar houses orb-shaped lighting fixtures and monochromatic marble countertops surrounded by black matted industrial swivel screw bar stools. Upstairs, a dimly lit bar features a red felt pool table with cherry mahogany wood decorates the center of the room with a black leather tufted couch. Adjacent to the main room is a 1,000-square-foot gallery known as the Wynwood Exhibition Center, which rotates exhibitions monthly. Past exhibitions have included works by Pulitzer Prize decorated photojournalist Charles Trainor Jr., celebrated philanthropic pop artist Stephen Gamson, and digital art pioneer Laurence Gartel and private collection of Chase that included pieces from Jean-Michel Basquiat. Lastly, a 5,000-square-foot outdoor garden allows guests lounge or dine al fresco.

Cafeina – Spanish for caffeine – has enlisted a team of mixologists to craft its new cocktail menu of exotic blended drinks like The Mexican Swizzle with tequila, Strega liqueur, lemon, pineapple and cilantro; Kentucky Guava a blend of bourbon, aperol, guava and rosemary and Immune Bomb with vodka, lemon, turmeric and ginger. Acclaimed signature classics remain, including the Café con Leche Martini, a mix of coffee-infused vodka, Amarula liqueur and Crème de Cacao; and Hot Passion, a citrusy blend of rum, Cointreau, passion fruit purée and lime juice, garnished with jalapeno.

Executive Chef Carlos Hernandez helms Cafeina’s studio-style kitchen highlighting an all new food concept of Colombian-Asian fusion cuisine. Offerings include the Shrimp Cocotail with kimchee aioli, garlic, red onions and cilantro in a toston bowl; Spicy Tuna Taco topped with kimchee aioli, coco rice, balsamic soy glaze, scallions and avocado ice cream; Pear & Gorgonzola Ravioli with truffle paste, parmesan and chicken; Boli Arepa Hush Puppy with guava kimchee gel, suero and lime zest; La Pepiada made up of pollo desmechado, avocado, mayonnaise, cilantro, lemon, and fried plantain; Bao Bun options like the Wynwood Lomo Saltado with angus beef, tomatoes, red onions, cilantro sauce, fresno peppers, cilantro and fries; Coco-Cola Braised Short Ribs with angus beef, pasnip puree, sake, soy, lemongrass, merlot wine and fried plantains and Loco Pollo Taco with black bean puree, kimchee and edamame.

Starting on Sunday, May 27, Cafeina will launch a new Sunday brunch party series that highlights the marriage between craft cocktails and modern twists on breakfast favorites. Guests will enjoy a-la-carte brunch dishes paired with bottomless options of Mimosas, Blood Mary’s, Champagne, Rosé, Bellinis and a ‘mixologist’s choice of the day’ punch.

Other upcoming weekly programming includes Live Piano Bar on Thursdays, Friday Happy Hour from 5-7 pm with Comedy Night starting at 7 pm, and Saturday.

Since its opening, Cafeina has garnered accolades including a proclamation by the City of Miami Beach noting February 17 as Cafeina Day, and voted by Miami New Times Reader’s Choice Awards for best coffee cocktail in town with the Café con Leche Martini.
