The brand-new six-track mini album has BoA embracing a more alternative rock sound for her comeback title track “Forgive Me.” Fusing electric guitars with a driving hip-hop beat, BoA’s gritty vocal performance soars over lyrics that speak out to individuals who wrongly judge others based on their own fragmented thoughts.
“Forgive Me” is co-written by BoA with producer Omega (who has worked with global stars Kesha and Fall Out Boy) and Brooke Tomlinson (who has written for the likes of G-Eazy and Jesse Saint John).
The mini album also contains two tracks self-composed by BoA herself – “Sketch” a new wave-based pop track that showcases BoA’s powerful vocals and “Hope,” an acoustic ballad track that allows BoA to share a message of gratitude and love to family, lovers and friends who stand by one’s side even through a weary life.
The album is rounded off by the groovy pop dance track “ZIP(짓),” electronica sound-infused number “Breathe,” and acoustic pop “After Midnight,” a track highlighted with a cozy acoustic guitar melody.
This album comes two years after her 20th-anniversary album BETTER in 2020, which Billboard placed at #1 for their ‘The 10 Best K-Pop Albums of 2020’ piece, stating that, “No other K-Pop album this year felt so refined, so real, so invigorating in its portrayal of the capacity for human emotions.
Making her debut in 2000 at the age of just 13, BoA has gone on to become one of the most beloved pop icons in all of Asia. From breaking barriers by being one of the first K-Pop acts to break the Japanese market to being a role model to generations of younger artists, BoA continues to cement her legacy in the fast-paced world of pop. Her ability to sing in multiple languages has allowed her success to span all of Asia, a pioneer of the K-pop boom in Asia.
