Billy Eichner, Brooke Shields, Gayle King and more attend Funny Or Die & PEOPLE Magazine Party in Washington, D.C.
White House Correspondents Weekend has officially begun! Last night, Funny Or Die and its new owner, Henry R. Muñoz III, and PEOPLE Magazine hosted a late night party at The Kennedy Center to kick off Washington, D.C.’s “nerd prom” weekend. Hollywood celebrities and VIPs across entertainment, tech, media, and politics attended the bash, including special guest Billy Eichner and Funny Or Die CEO Mike Farah.
Henry welcomed guests with an embraceful ‘thank you’ along the party’s red carpet and praised last night as “a night to recognize and thank all those who work on behalf of our country and democracy.” The Funny Or Die owner continued by saying, “Our country needs to laugh. That’s why I wanted to be a part of Funny Or Die and why we decided to bring back White House Correspondents weekend.”
Billy Eichner jumpstarted Funny Or Die’s inaugural party night with a, “We’re back D.C.!” speech and used the moment to spotlight recent anti-LGBTQ legislations with a motivating stance that “it sometimes takes culture and Hollywood to keep up the good fight and convince D.C. to stand in the arena for our community. We’re all in this together.”
The actor and comedian also credited Funny Or Die for jumpstarting his career citing, “I would not have a career without Funny Or Die. “Billy on the Street” changed my life. Funny Or Die’s CEO, Mike Farah, changed my life. I love them forever.”
Guests enjoyed fun food appetizers such as glazed-filled donuts and fried chicken, and gathered around the party’s popular milkshake bar, ice cream taco stand, and churro station. Eva Longoria’s tequila brand, Casa del Sol, filled party goers glasses for featured cocktails called Swamp Water, Majority Margarita, and Funny Or Drink! and danced to music spun by DJ Lina Bradford.
Additional notable attendees included Brooke Shields, Gayle King, Ana Navarro, Danny Ramirez, Harry Hamlin, Amelia Gray Hamlin, JP Brammer, Danny Strong, Julian Casablancas, Mario Van Peebles, JC Chasez and more.
