BERENIK MOVES NEW YORK FASHION WEEK AGAIN WITH LAUNCH OF THEIR SPRING/SUMMER 2018 COLLECTION

New York, NY – September 14, 2017 – BERENIK, a breakout name in the world of fashion, returned once again to New York Fashion Week this season to unveil their Spring/Summer 2018 collection with a Performance and Presentation on Tuesday, September 12th, 2017. The event took place at its recently opened U.S. flagship store in Soho. (419 Broome Street, NYC)

BERENIK designer Veronika Brusa’s inspiration comes from her “crazy” mind (her word). She looks at a collection like a painting, adding color, shape or texture until she feels it’s
perfect. With her trademark extreme attention to detail, the S/S 18 collection’s main source of inspiration emanated from a series of Duplo/Lego masks of artist Marcin Gajewski. These abstract masks were printed on fabrics and embroidered on garments and bags, symbolizing community, rituals and togetherness. The designs play with the irony of beauty and individuality, a core value of BERENIK’s contemporary style.

S/S 18 showcased Brusa’s trademark collection of hip, comfortable, functional and athletic silhouettes with an all-important edge. Along with the sporty shapes, snake prints and the neutral color palette of white, cream, rust, black and khaki allowed for a majority of the collection to be positioned as unisex, giving the brand a broader spectrum of customers of all ages and genders.

The collection showcased everything from blouses, pants, shorts, dresses, jackets and jumpsuits to leather accessories, bags, shoes and sunglasses. New items introduced for the brand this season included underwear, swimwear, leggings, rain jackets and rain pants. Key fabrications used this season were linen, cotton, silk, cupro, rayon and a functional outwear fabric, which lent a high tech touch.

Casted by Gilleon Smith, a mix of 103 movement and performance artists and models, all wearing masks and ensembles from the BERENIK Collection, walked in a straight line together around the streets of Soho into the store where the Presentation and Performance began promptly at 6:00PM. The models were positioned around the store, while the acclaimed Pascal Rekoert choreographed routines for the performance artists to dance seamlessly throughout room for the entire 60 minutes.

For the fifth season in a row, the brand’s styling team included makeup artistry by NU EVOLUTION and hair looks created by Prive By Laurent D.

About BERENIK:

BERENIK represents Swiss quality through design as conceived by Veronika Brusa, a Swiss interdisciplinary artist based in NYC. The contemporary sportswear line was created in 2010 as a means to explore the relationship between visual arts and apparel and to serve as a means to connect with people. Brusa seeks visual contrast and complimentary pairings through mixture of print, texture, and colors applied to sculptural silhouettes. By representing a forward & modern thinking view of luxury focused on product quality while providing true value for the customer, the brand’s elegant sportswear transcends seasonal trends and is intended for a discerning customer of all ages. In September 2013, the first BERENIK Boutique was opened in the heart of Zürich, Switzerland, which is also the headquarters of the company and warehouse. Beginning in 2014 the brand moved their Design Studio from Paris to New York and in July of 2017, the BERENIK Boutique and Talenthouse was opened in Soho, NYC as their U.S. Flagship. They develop two comprehensive prêt-à-porter collections per year. In doing so the brand attaches great value to the consistent realization of ideas, wearability, sophisticated cuts with a comfortable fit and high quality in workmanship and the choice of materials.
