Amelia Moore Shares Intimate Piano Version Of New Single, “Crybaby”

“[‘crybaby’] twitches with up-to-the-minute electronics…But the song’s masochistic drama stays rooted in the blues, and in the ways a human voice can break and leap.” – Jon Pareles, The New York Times

Amelia Moore gives a powerful, stripped-down performance of her new single, “crybaby,” accompanying herself on piano in a new one-shot video, which was directed by Mattias Russo-Larsson (Kanye West, Andrew Bird, FKA twigs). Clad from head to toe in a dark Bradley Sharpe dress and hat, Moore sits at a black baby grand piano in the middle of an empty warehouse, getting soaked by rain as the camera circles her. The acoustic piano version of “crybaby” is a dramatic departure from the original version of the song, which was included in The New York Times’ recent round-up of the most notable new songs. Critic Jon Pareles observed, “The production heaves and twitches with up-to-the-minute electronics: reversed tones, programmed drums, little keyboard loops, computer-tuned vocals. But the song’s masochistic drama stays rooted in the blues, and in the ways a human voice can break and leap.” Listen to the original version, which was produced by Pink Slip and Inverness for Moore’s forthcoming EP, HERE.

Originally from Lawrenceville (a town outside Atlanta), Moore first discovered her natural musicality by singing in the choir and taking up violin at age five. But despite her immense talent on the violin, she felt compelled to expand her horizons. “From a really young age I felt creatively trapped and knew I wanted to write my own music, so I quit violin and taught myself piano on a cheap little Casio keyboard,” she recalls.

Moore, who recently wrapped up a sold-out North American tour with Capitol Records label mate FLETCHER, has amassed over 10 million combined global streams and two million video views with her first three singles: “sweet and sour,” “vinegar” and “moves.” In less than six months, she’s already approaching 70,000 followers on Spotify.

Ones To Watch named Moore as one of “The 25 Artists to Watch in 2022” and she’s been the subject of features in Billboard, DORK, Notion, among others. EARMILK declared, “Amelia Moore is destined for greatness.”
