NEW YORK, NY – November 9, 2021 – Renowned Capital Preparatory Schools and Sean “Diddy” Combs announce the relocation of Capital Prep Harlem to the community landmark Church Of All Saints and School located at East 129th and 130th Street and Madison Avenue. The move will allow Capital Prep to increase capacity by 25% from 500 students to 700 students for grades 6th through 12th beginning with the 2022-2023 school year.

The new campus will house forty brand new classrooms and offices, a sports room, science labs, a cafeteria, an outdoor communal courtyard, and a “Great Hall” for all school assemblies and performances, creating a more focused atmosphere for both students and faculty.  The Great Hall will showcase the theater, art, and music talents of the scholars and the community at large.  The expansion will further the network’s efforts to provide historically underserved communities access to the same high quality, competitive curriculum available in more affluent communities.

“The kids of Harlem should have access to opportunity and a quality education and deserve to learn on a campus that reflects the level of excellence we aspire for them to achieve,” said Sean “Diddy” Combs. “This new campus for Capital Prep Harlem reflects my commitment to empowering as many children as I can and creating spaces for the next generation of leaders to thrive in every aspect of their lives.”

Sean “DIDDY” Combs spent five years meeting privately with community leaders and education experts before the Harlem school opened in 2016 in an effort to offer more educational opportunities for young men and women in the community.  Combs gifted one million dollars to the Capital Preparatory Schools network for the new location in the Bronx which opened in 2020.  The network of schools is overseen by educator and Combs’ co-founder, Dr. Steve Perry.  Mr. Combs serves in an advisory and support capacity to the school on various initiatives, financially as well as in-kind.

We are honored to reinvigorate a landmarked gem of Harlem, revitalizing its original place as a center of education for the community through our new campus.” stated Dr. Perry. “A prestigious staple of New York City, we are proud to provide the children of Capital Prep Harlem with a learning environment and space that reflects the history and beauty of the community we know and love.”

Originally constructed in 1883 the church and school were designed by James Renwick Jr., the famed architect behind St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Smithsonian Institution’s “castle building” in Washington, DC. The location was known as the “St. Patrick’s of Harlem” was once the center of education for the Harlem community, and in recent years has sat empty.  Both the parish and school were closed by the Archdiocese of New York, in 2015 and the church was deconsecrated in 2017 following the parish’s merger with St. Charles Borromeo. The church was designated by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission in 2007 and as such the exterior of the property will be maintained.

In June of 2021, amid the ongoing pandemic, Capital Prep Schools graduated 65 seniors across Capital Prep Harlem and Capital Prep Harbor.  One hundred percent of them were accepted into over three hundred four-year colleges. In 2022, CapitalPrep Harlem will have the largest number of graduating students from any CapitalPrep School location, and it will be the inaugural class that started with Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Capital Prep Harlem as well as Capital Prep Bronx & Harbor are currently accepting applications for students for next Fall. Those who are interested in applying as either a student or staff should go to for more information.

Capital Preparatory Schools’ mission is to provide historically disadvantaged students with the college and career readiness skills needed to become responsible and engaged citizens for social justice. Capital Preparatory Schools continues to follow the model of Capital Prep Magnet School founded by Dr. Steve Perry in 2005 and located in Hartford, CT. Their unique approach to educating the whole child has delivered incredible results, where 100% of its low-income, minority, first- generation high school graduates have been accepted to four-year colleges every year since its first class graduated in 2006. This success has led to the opening of 3 additional schools, CapitalPrep Harbor Upper and Lower in Bridgeport, CT (2015), and Capital Prep Harlem in New York City (2016), and Capital Prep Bronx, (2020) in partnership with Sean “Diddy” Combs.
